In the early 1990s, Leo Giles started a small business repairing headsets for
Delta pilots. Leo was a ground instructor at Delta, and was respected and admired
by all he worked with. He had a passion for flying, and strived to provide top
quality instruction in every subject he taught, and in everything he did. He had
a cheery spirit, and loved life and his family. He was involved in the Experimental
Aircraft Association (EAA),
and was passionate about their Young
Eagles program, and the opportunities it offered to youth in aviation.
In mid-2006, Leo retired from Delta and looked forward to flying his family
in their homebuilt aircraft between their home in the Atlanta, GA area and property
they owned in Wyoming. Tragically, in August, Leo, an accomplished pilot, was
taken from us too early in an accident following takeoff at his home field in
Georgia.
Doctor Headset was formed to pick up Leo’s service, and continue his
passion for the Young Eagles program. We have done this through the opening of
the Leo Giles Memorial Scholarship Fund, to which we humbly dedicate the first
ten percent of our gross income. We encourage those of you that feel led to join
us and contribute as well, adding to the available funds for young aviation students.
For contribution information we ask you to contact Eric Von at the EAA, (800)
236-1025, or evon@eaa.org. On behalf of Leo’s family, we thank you, in advance
for your participation in our vision.
